Default Another weekend, another biking trip and a few pictures

This weekend we went off down to Moab taking our A3 4 wheelin' again.

It was a little rougher than what we experienced down in Zion a few weeks ago. It had rained heavily the night before and thesand was wet.

The pictures are taken down the Gemini Bridges Road about 2 miles.

The winter detail begins this weekend. I hope I can get all that sand out of those nooks and crannies!

Default The biking trips are easy compared to winter

With the wife driving up and down over Parley's Summit every day in the winter it becomes quite necessary to get get good tires and have all wheel drive. I think 2 wheel drive would be sufficient for most of our biking trips. However the sand from these desert trips is quite abrasive.

I do love taking the Audi on trips instead of the Jeep. We get way better gas mileage, it's much more fun to drive there and back and the only down side is the wear and tear on a fairly expensive car instead of a crappy old jeep.

We do about 15-20 thousand miles on each car per year. Much of that is from fun trips away.

Weekend warriors are what we are, kayaking, biking, skiing, diving all that stuff and anything to keep us outside.

Live life.

Yes, it is less wear and tear during Summer. That's why I end up renting a car for ski trips

Default That red sand gets everywhere. I love the road to Gemini Bridges, that first hill from 191 is a

puckerer for me. Nothing like looking out your door at a 800' drop 6" from your left front wheel.

Default Actually I'm talking about the back door to gemini bridges

The dirt road is much flatter from Hwy 313. I'm not sure I would have made it up the dirt road from 191 to Gemini bridges.

Talking of Hwy 313 there is a great hairpin bend that was a total blast in the Audi. I should have taken a picture.

Cool Pics! How ironic this is. My wife and I were supposed to have our Audi by now and planned on a road trip to Moab with our bikes. However, we had to special order the roof rails and it's taken longer to get our car. Three more weeks.

We are not getting four wheel drive, getting the 2.0, but I'm sure it will get us most places...

Question about the roof rails... Did the cross bars come with them? Or did you get them from the Audi dealer? Thule? ???

Default The cross bars & feet were ordered from Thule but the UK versions

Thule US doesn't have anything that fits the A3 with factory rails (yet).

So I went to www.roofrackshop.co.uk

With shipping it is a wee tad expensive but well worth it. It took about 2 weeks to ship the items.
