We did this because after converting from auto to manual climate controls the outside temp display was lost. I made this handy wiring adapter so everything was plug and play.
The 12v, ground, and illumination are wired into the old transmission position display harness which is not used on the 20v, the speed signal is piggybacked off of the instrument cluster, and the temp signal is hooked right into the stock harness.

Powered up for the first time, everything is working fine!

Somehow we have a Canadian part so the temp is displayed in Celsius for now.

All the bulbs were recently replaced. The C4 roller blind switch is not illuminated because it's not wired in yet. It will be used to open a garage door.

I also painted this zebrano ashtray black tonight.

A little more background/info..
The outside temp display seems to work really well. The existing outside temp sensor from your 20v should work in this application. 10v and 8v people will have to run the two wires for the outside temp sensor. I knew that mine was off beforehand though as the auto climate display indicated that the outside temp was much higher than it really was. When getting the yellow connector and wiring for the temp display, I grabbed two outside temps sensors from two separate 100 CS's. When I tried to get these harnesses/sensors from an early '92 100 S, they were not there. It appears the car was a bare bones model with no headlight washers or outside temp sensor among other things, so be aware of this.
The black female connector was from an automatic gear selection display that the previous owner thought was a temp display. As Brant said, this made it easy to use as a quick connect for the 12v, ground, and illumination. I'm not sure how I wound up with a Canadian temp display but it was lying in a spare buttons/electronics box I have here so we used it. Brant's soldering skills are WAY better than mine so this harness was built pretty quick once I had all the wire connections located. We may have another wiring project to show here in a little while too;-)
As in my original post, the wire connections on the temp display are as follows:
Pin
1.) Vehicle speed signal (white/blue wire)
2.) Outside temp sensor
3.) Ground (brown)
4.) Illumination signal (grey/blue)
5.) Switched + 12v
The color of the wires of the outside temp sensor and switched power wires may change depending on what car you're working on. However, the vehicle speed signal, ground and illumination wires will not change though.

Re: Easy! Hardest part was making the wiring adapter.
Did you do a write up on the conversion? I'd love to do that. Where did you source the parts? I see that you painted the ashtray black. I noticed on one of the European models I've seen they had black perforated leather/vinyl in place of the wood. On another, I only saw the ashtray-console area but it appeared as if it were stainless or nickel. I imagine that since we only got them two years we only had the two options wood or wood, correct?
