Only a limited amount of "fooling" the ECU is possible.
No changes to the ECU itself are possible. With my MAF and the tiny velocity stack in front of the sensor wires, I have a decent amount of control of the mixture on my MMS200, but not much else. That's more than enough to get you in trouble if you don't have an A/F meter, though.
If I would've had enough cash lying around at the time, I would've just bought an MAF from Mance, which comes already dialed in via orings, no messing around necessary.
