Default Cam Adjuster seals on 2.8 l 30v

I have just had these replaced by an Audi dealer and they charged an awful lot of labor to do this. They said they had to remove the camshafts and rebuild something or other.
I am just wondering how much this should cost.

My bill for a new radiator, new water pump and timing chain, cam adjuster seals and front brakes, pads and rotors was over $4K.
It seems a bit much to me.

Cam adjuster seals aren't easy. It is an expensive job.

Default That sounds about right considering...

The new radiator and front brakes. Both of those alone at a dealership is going to be at least $1500. Did they do all the cam seals or just the adjusters? A dealer quoted me about $2k for the T-belt and cam seals. Can you scan in your receipt and post the picture?

No offense but If you can't even change your brakes, you're in for a real treat with this car :-(

Thank you for your comments.
I was just in shock, and seeing what you engineering types thought.
The car is an A4 Avant, 2001, a company car.
It leaked lots of fluids last week,as the radiator and water pump gave out.
So having the timing belt replaced at the same time seemed a good thing to do.
I noticed an oil leak as well, which was the cam adjusters.
It is running very smoothly now, as it was a bit noisy before.
I also have my own 2001 TT 225 hp Roadster that I work on myself, and I did the brakes on it, along with a Neuspeed cat back exhaust, chip and P flo air filter. I do take the TT to the track.

Default You probably could have done the work in a weekend and saved a bundle on the parts too.

Probably could have been all set for around $1500.

Ah. I assumed that the "company" paid for the repair. Now it sounds like maybe the company is you.

You are right, I am a partner.
I will keep the Avant for a few more months and then get another one.
It has been great especially while under warranty. It is my ski car.
I think the 2.0T next time.
