Default Chip upgrade durability

I was wondering how many miles people have put on their cars with a chip upgrade.

In a reply, please post your chip type and for how many miles your car has been chipped.

Thank you.

APR chipped 93 Octane at 5K miles, now at just above 32K. Blew the stock DV (@ 25K miles) and bought a Forge DV, blew the PCV and had it fixed under warranty (@ 15K miles).

GIAC X+ chip in my old VW jetta 1.8t -- put 30k miles on it, blew one turbo, everything covered under warranty.

GIAC X+ chip in my current b7a4 2.0t -- had it since i bought the car (installed at dealer), put on about 10k miles, no major issues so far.

Reliability also has to do how much you beat on the car. I dont WOT that often and if anything it's on the highway. Normal maintenance is done too.

Default Engine longevity with chip

My B5 with 1.8T engine was chipped with APR at 500 miles. Car was written off in an accident at 163,000 miles.

Engine ran fine and without a single repair to 160,000 miles. Low RPM loss of power/near stall when trying hard acceleration. Did not get a chance to figure out what the source of the problem was. Had tested same with and without chip. Coil pack was on agenda before crash.

I already chipped the replacement B7. Impossible to leave all that extra HP and torque on the table.
