APR Chip Upgrades

APR Chip Upgrades
Looking for feedback on long term reliability after installing an APR Stage 1, A-6 2.7T A/T. I am concerned about premature A/T transmission failures and turbos. Will these cars go 150K chipped if driven in a reasonable manner?

"driven in a reasonable manner" easier said than done once chipped...
but you shouldn't have too much of a problem. More boost = more chances of leaks = more chances of problems.
If it were me:
1) Boost gauge of some type to monitor for obvious problems when your butt-dyno tells you something's off.
2) Replace DV's.
3) Replace TBB.
4) TIP chip. (definitely optional)
5) VAG-COM cable (& software).
If this sounds like you're getting in over your head, you might want to wait. Otherwise, have at it-- it'll be like a new car!

DV = diverter valve. There are 2 of them. TBB = throttle body boot.
There is 1. All are "potential" leak sources for the "boosted air" path. Leaks here can lead to turbo failure. Original (ie: "older" 2.7T engines) had parts that increased the chance of boost leaks, especially if "chipped". Later versions of these parts were better, and there are some after-market parts that are better.
If your 2.7T is a "early" one, the "f" hose falls into the "should replace" category.
Do a seach for these parts...lotsa discussions.

Re: APR Chip Upgrades
Chip should be fine. But like GatorAl said in his response, it is much easier said than done to drive ur car in a "resonable manner" once it is chipped. Noticeable difference and MUCH more fun to drive once chipped. I have a little over 20K miles on mine, and no problems thus far (knock on wood). Definately recomend replacing the TBB. For 80 bucks, great insurance of future and more expensive problems.
