Default If need to use RTV to make the cover seal, then you have something wrong...

Most likely, the valve cover bolts were overtightened at some point, which caused damage to the cover lip. Have you checked the cover lip to see if it is flat and not bent (assuming you have the aluminum covers)?

yes the lip is flat and the bolts are at proper tightness. I am not the only one this has happened to so I have to respectfully disagree with your statement.

Default TSB

This same concept applies to the 12v, sealant at transition points.

Default question... why is my pass side still smoking?

Finally fixed the stripped bolt with a heli coil set and a crazy drill bit.. anyways great advice from everyone on here, thank you.

Now on to why the pass side is still smoking and smelling like bruning oil? Is it still the oil from when the gasket was leaking? Another problem? There was oil everywhere before I started and I did try to clean off as much as possible. Ive only driven ~10 miles so far. I did torque to 7lbft, OEM Gaskets and used the darko gasket sealer and let it cure for 24hrs No oil leaking... so please tell me its just the oil from when it was leaking.... once again its only the passengers side right below the VC. and If I wipe the area I get a very minimal amount of oil but its like sludge and looks to have been there for awhile.
