Timing belt cam gears
Does anyone know if there is a procedure for resetting the position of the timing belt cam gears? I didn't see anything in my Bentley, unless I missed it.
It's been a number of years since I pulled the cams and I forgot that the cam gears are not keyed to the camshaft.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I forget to check in here regularly and am sorry I missed this.
As you now probably know, the timing procedure of the 12v has an interesting method of tensioning the belt and then tightening the cam gears to the cams. My understanding is that this is to maintain the precise mechanical timing of the several rotating parts, while accounting for the rather long distance between them. If the gears were fixed to the cams, then dimensional tolerances in the belt itself could put components several degrees out of phase.

I did buy a set of new ones from Audi as mine we rusty looking and installed them. Its the same procedure like if you are doing the timing but you just remove them once they are loose. Its a cone fit
