Default Drive ANYTHING a quarter-millions miles hard/soft with/without mods...

and it's gonna set ya back some SERIOUS maintenance/operating costs! Gasoline alone averaging 21MPG at $1.75 per gallon is $20,000!

Default another curve ball anyone? not joking... what else can make my life more complicated?

so i looked at the old motor head bolts, they are 6 point socket looking ones... so i got a special socket for it... not the head bolts on the new motor are 12 point inside (alen style) WTF?! and i dont have that stile! Some of my guys in the shop should... i hope :-/
anyway, my questions is, why would Audi do such a thing on a motor that is the same engine code? Is there a difference on the torque speck between those 2 stiles?
I'm done complaining, this is just putting me behind my schedule again :-(

Default You're telling me! I just wish my wife would stop telling me to sell my 12v . . . .

I have my eyes on a torquey 3.0 TDI with sport package once they come out, as long as I can get a manual tranny! I just suffered a transmission failure in my wife's A6 30v--the damn tranny fluid pump failed with only 112,000 miles (naturally it grenaded all the clutch packs as the lack of fluid pressure caused inadequate clutch pack engagement in each gear).

If I cannot get a TDI with a manual, I will go with another manufacturer or go with an Audi petrol engine model that has a manual tranny. Luckily, my business picks up most of my fuel bill for all of my travels.

But, even if I get a new car, I put way too many hours into my 12v to sell it. Worse case, I will garage it in my parents empty garage slot some 7 miles from my house and use it as a spare on weekends and when my family's other cars need to go to the shop for maintenance.
