Funny story. The serp belt failed on my car and got I between my timing belt and crank. So I'm about to pull the heads off this weekend. Gonna have my heads fully rebuilt. Haven't decided on the bottom end yet. If there's no lip I'll leave it alone. If it's bad I'll rebuild it. So I've been driving my coupe quattro. Plus my wife's mitsubishi eclipse chewed up and spit out a bearing. So my car luck has sucked this last month.

The machine shop quoted me $1200 to get both rebuilt with new valves, guides and seals. The worst part it's finding the springs!!! Through the audi dealership they are $1350 for the spring assembly! I found a website (the only one) where I can get them for around $600 but that's still a ton for springs and keepers!! But I love my car too much to let her go. My parents brought me home from the hospital in her so she's family! Plus having a full service history from mile 1 on the car is a main reason I keep her. Ill post some pics of my rebuild and prices for anyone who has the misfortune I've had. My goal is a million mile audi so I have to get her back on the road soon

ow man... thats a allot for just the valve springs, is it an AAH or AFC engine? couldnt you just get a set of used ones or maybe contact 034 and maybe they can come up with something?

I have a set of AAH valve springs. Actually all head internals. Let me know if you are interested in the stuff.
Or, Just buy junkyard heads and redo them!

It's an AAH. I have a spare AAH engine in my parts car. It's got 310,000 on it so I might swap the heads off of my spare engine. I'm worried about fresh heads on an old bottom end. I'd replace the lifters and get them machine of course. Has anyone ordered from eurospecsports.com? I see they have a fully rebuilt long block for $2200.

Heads are off. Bent all 6 intake valves. Minor piston damage. Have to look hard to see it. Still has factory cross hatching and no lip in the cylinders. It really is amazing the quality audi used on these engines. 363,000 miles and the bottom end is still solid!! I'm going to get the heads rebuilt and drive it another 300,000 miles.

Finished up today. Replaced the intake valves and replaced all top end gaskets, lifters and seals. She runs perfect now. Sounds like a car with 80k on it!! Any idea how to post pics?
